Individual lives, families and communities begin to experience kingdom impact when the people of God not only pray the Lord’s Prayer but being looking for ways to carry out God’s will for their own communities. The following true stories illustrate the transformation that is evident in the lives of individuals, families and whole communities when the people of God put the Lord’s Prayer into action.
EVANGELIST CHANGES HOW HE PROCLAIMS THE GOOD NEWS
Ezekiel was a young evangelist who came to talk with John after a training session. Ezekiel was frustrated because after several years of doing door to door evangelism, only twelve people in the community had put their faith in Christ. John encouraged Ezekiel to not only speak about the gospel, but to demonstrate it by doing good works in the community.
GOD LOVES TO MULTIPLY RESOURCES OF THOSE WHO ARE GENEROUS
Following a training session, one family took to heart the commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself” Mark 12:31. One of their pigs was about to have a litter, so the family decided to give the firstborn piglet to a very poor family in their neighborhood. The average litter size is eight to twelve piglets, and often several of them do not survive. But this time, the pig gave birth to seventeen piglets and all survived.
VILLAGE CHIEFS ASTOUNDED BY COOPERATION BETWEEN CHURCHES
Reverend Buingo and his Samaritan Strategy team have been training churches in towns just outside of the grand city of Kinshasa. As a result of the training and mentoring, twelve churches, from different backgrounds and denominations, began working together to provide vocational training for teenage mothers. TWO OFFERINGS EVERY SUNDAY: ONE CASH, THE OTHER FOOD FOR THE POOR
Ebenezer was a small church in a poor community. Some of the church members hardly had enough to provide food for their own families. But in spite of the poverty, the church believed in the Biblical truth that we are blessed to be a blessing. As a result, they decided to take two offerings during every worship service. The first offering was the traditional passing of the plate for coins and bills.
